Free Medical Equipment Recycling Program in Sonoma County

Santa Rosa Orthopaedics is happy to share a helpful local resource for patients, families, and caregivers: the Sonoma Medical Equipment Recycling Program, also known as Sonoma MERP.

Many orthopedic patients need temporary support while recovering from an injury, surgery, joint replacement, or mobility-related condition. Items such as walkers, canes, wheelchairs, shower chairs, commodes, bed pads, and other safety equipment can make daily life safer and easier during recovery.

Sonoma MERP collects gently used medical equipment and redistributes it to Sonoma County residents in need. Items are free, though donations are welcomed to help support the volunteer-run program.

If you have clean, working medical equipment you no longer need, donating it can help another person stay mobile, independent, and safe at home. If you or a loved one needs equipment, Sonoma MERP may be able to help.

Before choosing or using mobility equipment, patients should check with their physician, physical therapist, or care team to make sure the item is appropriate and properly fitted for their needs.
