About Dr. Pourtaheri
Dr. Neema Pourtaheri enjoyed a successful practice as a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in elbow and shoulder care in Southhampton, New York before coming west to join Santa Rosa Orthopaedics in 2017.
After earning his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, he was awarded his M.D. degree from the Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He then completed his surgical residency at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey, where he was honored as chief resident in his final year.
Fellowship training in the sub-specialty of shoulder and elbow surgery then beckoned at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, after which he established himself in private practice.
Dr. Pourtaheri feels fortunate to have trained alongside some of the world’s finest orthopedic surgeons in a time of dramatic technological advances. He still considers general orthopedics an ideal complement to his sub-specialty practice, offering services that include minimally invasive arthroscopy, fracture care and joint replacement, along with PRP and stem cell injections.
Throughout his academic and professional career, Dr. Pourtaheri has published award-winning articles for medical journals and presented his findings at numerous professional conferences. He is also an official reviewer for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, the world’s most prestigious journal in that field.
Away from his practice, he enjoys family time with his wife, son and daughter, and recreational pursuits ranging from mountain biking, kayaking, and tennis to snowboarding and more.
